Letter no. 6
Three New Interviews: Espoir, Jaida and Charlie
Hey Creative people!
Over the past month, three more interviews were added to On Creative Work.
Espoir
The first interview is with Nindeba Espoir. Growing up in the Congo, Espoir encountered tremendous adversity— yet he has been able to rise above, enroll in med school at one of the top universities in the world, and use his story to inspire and build capacity for positive change.
In the conversation, we chat about public health, overcoming adversity, and Espoir’s nonprofit public health foundation Kira For Action.
Jaida
The second interview is with photojournalist Jaida Grey Eagle.
In our conversation, Jaida shares about her experience curating a major exhibit at the Minneapolis Institute of Art on the history of Native American photography, how covering one story leads to another, and building a portfolio of work that represents your values.
Charlie
Finally, I spoke with Charlie Clausner about teaching in Hawai’i. Charlie spent four years teaching in a rural area of the Big Island, initially as part of Teach For America. He is now in his ninth year of teaching in Hawai’i.
In the interview, Charlie speaks about building authentic relationships, the role of community in education, and the value of culturally-relevant education.
Note:
This past month, I’ve picked back up my coding / software development studies and haven’t had as much time or headspace to write new reflections. For the near future, I plan to continue publishing new interviews weekly-ish, while pausing on reflections, and writing the email newsletter monthly.

Always enjoy your posts Peter! Keep it up when you can!
